Practitioner only products are premium quality products with higher potency or efficacy than regular over-the-counter products. Practitioner only products are made with the highest quality ingredients. Practitioner only products in Australia can only be dispensed by healthcare professionals, usually a doctor, nutritionist, naturopath or pharmacist.
These products are governed by the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 and the Therapeutic Goods Regulations 1990.
The Therapeutics Goods Administration (or TGA in short), the Australian governing body, is believed to be the most stringent regulator in the world.
The TGA requires a consultation with a registered healthcare practitioner before the patients are able to purchase the products.
